Duke Recruiting: A Surprising Name Emerges
Didn’t see this one coming but he’d be loved in Cameron
Well here is an unexpected development on the recruiting front: the #1 center in the 2027 class has gotten an offer from Duke.
That’s not the unexpected part - Duke tends to offer great players.
What’s unexpected then, you say?
Well, that the player in question is Obinna Ekezie, Jr. If that name sounds familiar, it’s because his dad, Obinna, Sr., played for Maryland from 1995-1999.
Ekezie, Sr is from Nigeria originally and had a decent pro career stateside and overseas.
Junior is a good bit taller than his dad (7-0 to 6-9) and he’s getting tons of attention, with offers from Kelvin Sampson’s Houston, Maryland, BYU, Miami, Virginia and Cincinnati so far. We’d recommend keeping a close eye on this one.
