Duke Recruiting: Dame Sarr Commits!
Great news for next year!
Well it’s official now: Dame Sarr has committed to Duke.
The 6-6 Italian wing had been linked to both Illinois, which opted for Cal’s Andrej Stojakovic, and then Kansas.
Duke meanwhile had a commitment from Cedric Coward, but with his success at the NBA Combine, he’s widely expected to stay in, which opened a spot at Duke.
Jon Scheyer went back to the drawing board and made Sarr a priority. He dropped Kansas and will now be a Blue Devil.
Incidentally, he is interviewed on the newest episode of the Brotherhood Podcast, as hosted by assistant coach Emanuel Dildy.
We haven't watched the whole episode yet, but he mentions Zion Williamson as a factor. We’ve seen this before - JJ Redick mentions Christian Laettner as a factor in his decision to come to Duke and others have pointed to previous members of the Brotherhood.
In an interesting twist, he also mentions Paolo Banchero having Italian roots as a factor.
