The Golden State Warriors shared an update on Stephen Curry’s strained left hamstring ahead of Wednesday’s must-win matchup against the Minnesota Timberwolves. While the two-time MVP has already been ruled out for tonight’s Game 5, the team announced that Curry is making “good progress” and has been cleared to resume light on-court activity.

If the Warriors manage to extend the series, Curry will be re-evaluated on Saturday ahead of a potential Game 6 on Sunday. However, head coach Steve Kerr made it clear that Curry’s recovery will not be rushed—regardless of tonight’s outcome.

Facing a 3-1 series deficit, Golden State is clinging to any sign of hope. Curry’s potential return offers a glimmer—but first, they’ll have to find a way to survive at least one more game without him.

But Curry hasn’t tested his hamstring in a high-torque, full-speed way that’ll deliver him and Rick Celebrini the true answer about whether it’s feasible for him to return for Game 6. They don’t know yet. They may never need to know the answer. If they get eliminated Wednesday night, Curry will spend the early part of his offseason slowly allowing his hamstring to heal.

Coach Steve Kerr discussed Tuesday on 95.7 The Game’s “Willard and Dibs” why Podziemski remains valuable to his strategy, even while experiencing a shooting slump, ahead of the must-win Game 5 against the Timberwolves on Wednesday in Minnesota.

“The confidence in the shot right now is not there, but let me tell you something: This guy is a ball player,” Kerr told Mark Willard and Dan Dibley.

“Every game, you look at the plus/minus at the end of the game, and he’s at or near the top for our team. He does so many other things besides shooting that are crucial for us.”

Despite his talent, Kuminga’s propensity to look for his shot at the expense of the flow of Golden State’s offense has irked the coaching staff. During a late-season game against the Blazers, team sources say Kerr was incensed after several instances in which Kuminga looked off Curry to create his own offense. Kuminga subsequently received DNPs in the Warriors’ regular-season finale against the Clippers and then again in their play-in matchup against the Grizzlies. By the start of the playoffs, many within the organization wondered whether Kuminga, who is eligible for an extension, had played his last game as a Warrior.
