Brotherhood Playoff Watch: Jayson Tatum And Boston Are In A Hole. Can They Climb Out?
Yes, but it won’t be easy.
As we’ve discussed after each of Boston’s first two losses to New York, both after having late 20 point leads, former Duke star Jayson Tatum is not living up to Boston’s championship expectations and he’s going to hear about it.
And he is, often quite harshly.
And we’re sure he understands it. Boston isn’t supposed to lose to New York in the playoffs, not least of all going down 0-2 at home when they have large late leads in both games. It’s not good anywhere, but in Boston that’s closer to the eighth deadly sin.
On Thursday, Tatum said this: “I take full ownership of the way that I’ve played in this series and can’t sugarcoat anything. I need to be better, and I expect to be a lot better.”
Saturday, he gets a chance to back it up. If he does, Boston can still climb back into the series. If he and his teammates continue to struggle, they’ll go down 3-0 and no NBA team has ever come back from a 3-0 hole.
