Baylor has acquired another addition to its recruiting class as it shifts towards a completely new roster next season.
Blair Academy big man Ramon “Mayo” Soyoye will play for the Bears next season, he announced on Wednesday.
“Mayo was one of the most impactful bigs who has ever played for us at Blair in my 26 years here,” Blair head coach Joe Mantegna told ZAGSBLOG. “He is an elite rim protector. He puts pressure on the rim on every roll on offense and he is far more skilled than people realize. He doesn’t just have upside because of his incredible athleticism, but he is a fast learner, with a high motor and he is an elite competitor. He’s going to surprise some people.”
Soyoye stands as a 6-foot-10, 235-pound big man who provides length, athleticism, and rim protection in the frontcourt.
The Nigerian big man also took visits to Villanova and Maryland before deciding to commit to Baylor.
Baylor’s recruiting class includes five-star forward and McDonald’s All-American Tounde Yessoufou and three-star guard Andre Igoudala II.
