Golden State basketball is on the way! Come join our game thread and chat about tonight’s matchup here.

The Golden State Warriors open their Western Conference Semifinals matchup against the Minnesota Timberwolves on Tuesday night. Tip-off is set for 6:30 PM PT in Minneapolis and will be broadcasted on TNT.

Previously with the Warriors:

Golden State advanced to the second round of the Western Conference playoffs with a 103-89 Game 7 victory over the Houston Rockets on Sunday night. Buddy Hield was the team’s Game 7 hero, erupting for 33 points on a scorching 9-of-11 shooting from three-point range—tied for the most threes made in a Game 7 in NBA history.

Steph Curry and Jimmy Butler picked up the slack in the second half, finishing behind Hield with 22 and 20 points, respectively. In fact, the Warriors’ starting five accounted for 100 of the team’s 103 points, with Kevon Looney scoring the only three points off Golden State’s bench. The win gave the Warriors yet another playoff series victory over the Rockets—marking five series wins against them in the past 11 seasons.

What to watch for tonight:

There’s little time to recover as the Warriors dive straight into a new challenge against a fresh Timberwolves team. While Golden State is coming off a grueling seven-game series and playing on just one day of rest, Minnesota wrapped up its first-round series against the Los Angeles Lakers last Wednesday—giving them nearly a full week to rest and prepare.

Fatigue has been a factor for the Warriors all season. They’ve looked sharp with extended rest, but sluggish on quick turnarounds. Fortunately, the injury report is relatively clear for Golden State—aside from Gary Payton II, who is questionable with an illness.

However, Minnesota brings more than just fresh legs. They’re led by rising superstar Anthony Edwards, who’s become one of the most complete scorers in the league. The 23-year-old was already one of the best athletes in the NBA, but now he’s made significant progress as a three-point shooter, hitting 39.5% from deep during the regular season. He also ranked fourth in the league in three-point attempts per game (10.3) and second in makes per game (4.1), trailing only Curry (4.4).

After averaging 26.8 points per game in the first-round series against the Lakers, Edwards will undoubtedly be the primary focus for Steve Kerr and the Warriors’ defense.

That being said, Golden State won the regular-season series 3-1 against Minnesota—though all of those games came before acquiring Butler at the trade deadline. Because of that, expect a different feel this time around. With experience on their side, the Warriors will look to throw the first punch, hoping for a chance to steal Game 1 on the road.
