Kentucky has added a 7-footer to its transfer portal class.

Miami (OH) transfer Reece Potter will play for the Wildcats next season, he announced on Monday.

“It wasn’t hard to chose Kentucky,” he told ZAGSBLOG. “The name in front of the jersey recruits itself and I think anyone would be crazy if they turn down the chance to where the blue and white. You know something I pride myself is being a little bit of a mismatch — Spacing the floor and getting the shot blocker away from the rim because if he helps over I can shoot it at a high level.”

The 7-foot-2, 220-pound center averaged 6.5 points, 3.7 rebounds and 1.2 assists in his sophomore year for the RedHawks. He played his first two collegiate seasons at Miami (OH).

Now, he will move to the SEC to play under head coach Mark Pope and the Wildcats.

Kentucky’s transfer portal class also includes Pitt transfer Jaland Lowe, Arizona State transfer Jayden Quaintance, Tulane transfer Kam Williams and Alabama transfer Mo Dioubate.

In his first season with the program, Pope led the Wildcats to their first Sweet 16 appearance since 2019. With a promising transfer portal class, the hope for Kentucky is that one of college basketball’s blue bloods can return to being one of the premier rosters in the sport.
