Manchester Mystics cruise to U16 girls national title
Manchester Mystics claimed the Under-16 national crown with a dominant 77-48 win over over Richmond.
The Knights put up a good fight going in 33-26 down at the half, but the hometown Mystics surged to victory with an even stronger second-half performance.
Anya Williams took MVP honours with a 17-point, eight-assist, seven-rebound performance. Mojan Malek ran her team-mate close an 18-point, 11-rebound double-double.
“It feels amazing,” the MVP said. “I wasn’t going for MVP just wanted to make sure my team wins as it’s our last season together with all our players and coaches. We’ve been playing for a long time together, since we’re 12, so half of us are going to college, some going Europe, so it’s amazing we had this chance and opportunity together and it feels great.”
