Anthony Edwards revealed his favorite movie during Lakers victory lap, and you’ll never guess it
Didn’t see this one coming.
Anthony Edwards is still ascending. The Wolves guard was already a superstar, but he’s reaching “face of the NBA” status, and eliminating the Lakers in the NBA Playoffs just added to his legacy.
We’re not here to talk about him celebrating the victory though. We’re here to talk about his favorite movie, which might be the most surprising response from an athlete ever.

“They said ‘Lakers in 5,’ and when we was up 3-1, they said ‘Lakers in 7.’ Go to hell today… Good guys don’t die in this movie, Morris Chestnut died in this movie”

Edwards was asked if Boyz N The Hood was his favorite movie after claiming the Wolves were the good guys, and the Lakers were Morris Chestnut — who played Ricky Baker. Now, I’m not exactly sure I’d classify Ricky as the “bad guy” in the movie. Ferris was way, waaaaay worse, but that’s another argument.
Anyway, Ant said that it wasn’t his favorite movie. That his actual favorite movie of all time was ... Matilda. Yes, the 1996 Roald Dahl adaptation starring Mara Wilson, Rhea Perlman, and Danny DeVito.
I’m not going to hate. Matilda is a banger. It’s just surprising to hear an athlete say this openly without feeling the need to try and seem all macho, picking something more traditionally adult, macho, or acclaimed.
This is why Ant is great though. He does not care an ounce what you think. Whether that means walking through the streets of L.A. mocking the Lakers getting bounced, or professing his love of a children’s movie.
