2025 Chicago Sun-Times All-Area high school boys basketball team
The All-Area team, comprised of players in the Sun-Times’ entire coverage area, is voted on by a select committee. Players from nearly 400 schools are eligible.
Nick Allen, Bradley-Bourbonnais, 6-11, C. Sr.
Illinois State recruit. Two-time All-Area selection. Averaged 23 points, 12 rebounds and 2 blocks. Southwest Suburban Conference Player of the Year. All-time scoring leader for the Boilermakers.
Aleks Alston, Kenwood, 6-10, F, Sr.
Uncommitted. First Team All-City. Partnered with Devin Cleveland, Amari Edwards and TJ Seals to lead the Broncos to the Red Shield championship and their first city title. Averaged 17 points, 7 rebounds, 4 assists and 2 blocks.
Grant Best, Mount Carmel, 6-3, F, Sr.
Air Force recruit. First Team All-City. Helped Cameron Thomas and Noah Mister lead the Caravan to the Class 3A state title game last season and into the sectional final this year. Averaged18 points and 8 rebounds.
Al Brooks Jr., Rich, 6-7, F, Sr.
Uncommitted. The area's most athletic player teamed with Jamson Coulter and Jayden Williams to lead Rich to its first Big Dipper Holiday Tournament title in 31 years. Averaged 17 points, 9 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 steals and 1 block.
Vincas Buzelis, Hinsdale Central, 6-4, F, Sr.
South Dakota State recruit. Hinsdale Central Holiday Classic MVP. Led Red Devils to 29-4 season and the West Suburban Silver title. Averaged 19 points and 8 rebounds.
Devin Cleveland, Kenwood, 6-3, G, So.
First Team All-City. Partnered with Aleks Alston, Amari Edwards and TJ Seals to lead the Broncos to the Red Shield championship and their first city title. One of the best sophomores in the country. Averaged 21 points, 4 rebounds, 3 assists and 2 steals.
Tyreek Coleman, Waubonsie Valley, 6-2, G, Sr.
Illinois State recruit. Two-time All-Area selection. Teamed with Moses Wilson to lead Warriors to 31 wins and a share of the DuPage Valley conference title. Averaged 21 points, 4 assists, 5 rebounds and 2 steals.
Jaxson Davis, Warren, 6-1, G. So.
Two-time All-Area selection. Led Blue Devils to their second consecutive Proviso West Holiday Tournament title and repeated as MVP. Already scored more than 1,000 points. Averaged 20 points, 6 assists, 4 rebounds and 3 steals.
Blake Fagbemi, Benet, 6-0, G, Sr.
Truman State recruit. Key factor in tying together the Redwings' talented, balanced squad. AC Williamson winner at the Pontiac Holiday Tournament. Averaged 13 points, 7 assists and 5 rebounds.
Phoenix Gill, St. Ignatius, 6-3, G. Sr.
Northwestern recruit. First Team All-City. Teamed with junior Chris Bolte to lead the Wolfpack to a school record 25 wins. Averaged 20 points, 7 rebounds, 3 assists and 2 steals.
Marcos Gonzales, Brother Rice, 6-3, G. Sr.
Citadel recruit. Second Team All-City. Combined with Jack Weigus and Caden Workman to lead the Crusaders into the Class 3A sectional finals with a 28-6 record. Averaged 19 points and 6 rebounds.
Cole Kelly, Neuqua Valley, 6-6, G, Fr.
Turned in the best season of any player in school history, scoring more than 600 points and grabbing more than 300 rebounds. Finished with 14 double-doubles and averaged 19 points, 10 rebounds, 3 assists and 1 block.
Christopher Kirkpatrick, New Trier, 6-3, G. Jr.
Led the Trevians in points, rebounds, assists and steals per game. Two-time CSL South All-Conference selection. Talented scorer showcased a dominant all-around game, averaging 22 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists.
Ian Miletic, Rolling Meadows, 6-7, F, Sr.
Marquette recruit. Two-time All-Area selection. Led Mustangs to the Mid-Suburban League championship and a 29-4 record heading into Friday's sectional final. Averaged 20 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists.
JT Pettigrew, Bolingbrook, 6-7, F, Sr.
Valparaiso recruit. Dynamic, mobile big man who averaged 16 points, 10 rebounds and 2 blocks. Shot 59% from two and 40% from three-point range.
Dalton Scantlebury, Lane, 6-9, C, Sr.
Penn recruit. First Team All-City. Led Lane to its first regional championship. Averaged 16 points, 9 rebounds, 2 assists and 3 blocks.
Luke Smith, Addison Trail, 6-0, G, Sr.
Uncommitted. Averaged 27 points, 8 rebounds and 7 assists. Assaulted the IHSA record book. Finished his career 30th in scoring in state history with 2,531 points and 10th in field goals with 860.
Davion Thompson, Bolingbrook, 6-3, G, So.
Sun-Times Player of the Year. Two-time All-Area selection. One of the best sophomores in the country. Averaged 24 points and 5 rebounds. Shot 58% on two-point shots, 49% on three-pointers and 90% from the free-throw line.
Jayden Tyler, Homewood-Flossmoor, 6-0, G. Sr.
Wofford recruit. Helped lead the Vikings to the Class 4A state championship in 2024 and took over as the star this season. Averaged 19 points, 4 rebounds, 3 assists and 2 steals. Scored more than 1,000 points in his career.
Rykan Woo, DePaul Prep, 6-1, G, Jr.
Second Team All-City selection. Teamed with Makai Kvamme and Rashaun Porter to lead the Rams to the Catholic League title and the Pontiac Holiday Tournament championship. Averaged 16 points, 3 rebounds, 3 assists and 2 steals.
