LeBron James reaches 50,000 points between playoffs, regular season
LeBron James has created another milestone, becoming the first member of the 50K points club.
LeBron James is already the NBA scoring king, but on Tuesday, as the Lakers took on the Pelicans, he reached another milestone, clearing 50,000 career points between the regular season and playoffs.
After finishing one point shot of reaching the milestone in Sunday’s game, LeBron wasted little time on Tuesday for the moment. Three-and-a-half minutes into the game, LeBron knocked down a wing 3-pointer to reach 50,002 points.

Considering his spot atop the NBA’s all-time leading scorers list already, then every scoring accomplishment for LeBron through the remainder of his career is unprecedented.
In career points, LeBron is already putting himself well clear of the rest of the field. In second place all-time is Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, who is over 5,000 points behind James now. The closest active player to LeBron in career points is Kevin Durant, who is nearly 15,000 points away.
So, you can add this new achievement to the long list of records LeBron holds that we are unlikely to see broken during our lifetimes.
LeBron’s career point total would be even higher if the NBA would factor in his points during the play-in and the NBA Cup final, but the league just disregards those stats.
And approaching 50,100 when you count the play-in tournament and in-season championship points the NBA fails to recognize anywhere.

As @mcten pointed out, if the NBA actually counted play-in game and In-Season Tournament championship game stats, LeBron is sitting at 50,098 points right now

LeBron has been a beacon of consistency and his ability to produce as a scorer is unprecedented. This year has been no different. LeBron leads the team in points, averaging 24.8 points per game and is shooting 39% from 3-point range.
With a quarter of the season left in his 22nd year, LeBron will undoubtedly continue to rack up points with what’s left of the 2024-25 NBA campaign.
So, the only question now is how much higher LeBron can take it. Considering how long he’s played and how good he’s been, don’t be surprised if we see more unprecedented scoring achievements happen in what’s left of his storied career.
