Jennifer Hudson Hit in Face by Basketball at Knicks Game, Boyfriend Common Tries To Help
Sitting in the crowd at a basketball game isn't usually a contact sport, but Jennifer Hudson got a bit too close to the action during a recent excursion.
Hudson, 43, attended the New York Knicks vs. Golden State Warriors game on Tuesday, March 4, which the Knicks lost, 114-102.
During the game, the singer seemed to have her glasses flung off after a basketball flew right at her head while she was sitting courtside with her boyfriend, rapper Common. The ball flew into the crowd after Knicks' Miles McBride tried to snatch the ball, which was then knocked to where Hudson was sitting.
Common did what any good boyfriend would do and tried to protect his lady. He was sitting next to Hudson and put his hand out to try to block the ball.
Video footage of the incident shows Hudson looking somewhat perplexed after the exchange. After the hit, of near-hit, she looked at her glasses, and Common put his arm around her. It didn't look like her glasses were damaged, so that's a good thing.

"Protect Jennifer Hudson!" one commentator said during the game's broadcast.
The Knicks' next game is Thursday, March 6, in Los Angeles against the Lakers. Chances are, Hudson will stay home for that one.
