Ohio State will be No. 3 seed for women's Big Ten basketball tournament

0 21

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) -- The Ohio State women's basketball team will need to win three games to claim its first Big Ten tournament title since 2018.

The Buckeyes concluded the season with an overtime loss to Maryland on a last-second shot to finish conference play with a 13-5 record in Big Ten play. That puts Ohio State as the No. 3 seed for the upcoming conference tournament in Indianapolis. With that seed, the Buckeyes have earned a bye into the quarterfinals and will play Friday evening against either Michigan State, Iowa or Wisconsin.

2025 Big Ten women's basketball tournament bracket

This is the first time the Big Ten tournament has 15 teams after last year's expansion adding Oregon, Washington, USC, and UCLA to the conference. The expansion meant three teams were left out of the bracket and an extra first-round game was added.

The Buckeyes will hope to make a run towards the title to ensure a top-four seed for the NCAA tournament, which would guarantee them hosting duties for the opening two rounds. The selection show for the women's bracket will be on March 16 at 8 p.m.
