A thoroughly dominant performance by the Blue Devils

Duke blew out Pitt Sunday afternoon, 69-31, in a game where Pitt was held to single digits in the first, second and third quarters. In the fourth, the Panthers got to 10.

Duke held Pitt to just 11 baskets for the game, two of which were threes. The Panthers shot just 12.5 percent on threes for the game and 24.4 percent overall. Duke forced 29 turnovers, which is extraordinary and thoroughly dominated the boards as well, 41-28 and 15-9 offensively.

Reigan Richardson led the way with 13 points and broke the 1,000 career mark as well. Delaney Thomas kicked in 10. Jordan Wood led the rebounding with seven while Oluchi Okananwa had six.

About the only bad news was that freshman sensation Toby Fournier, who was injured last game against Boston College. Coach Kara Lawson said she’s out indefinitely.

That’s a concern. Duke has done very well despite not having 6-4 freshman Arianna Roberson, who was likely going to start.

Duke is a smallish team without Roberson and Fournier has really helped. Hopefully she won’t be out too long.
