WATCH: Celtics at Timberwolves on Playback

Wolves are desperate to find a groove.

The Minnesota Timberwolves are desperate to turn their season around. Tonight, they’ll have an uphill battle do to so against the defending NBA champions. You can watch the Wolves vs Boston Celtics with Tony Pesta on Playback at 7:30 pm.

The Wolves took a big swing this summer by trading Karl-Anthony Towns for a package centered on Julius Randle. The results have not been favorable as Minnesota has seemingly taken a step back in nearly every regard after reaching the Western Conference Finals last season.

Minnesota’s team chemistry is astray as neither end of the floor is fully clicking into place. Their defense remains strong at fifth in the NBA but even that is a decline from having the league’s best Defensvie Rating last season. Offensively, their lack of floor spacing has caused them to fall from 16th to 19th in Offensive Rating.

The Wolves are currently 17-15, sitting in 8th place of the Western Conference. They’ve gone 5-5 over their last 10 games. The tension is rising as this team looks for a way to stabilize themselves and return to being a top-dog in the conference.

Meanwhile, Boston is still comfortabel at second place in the East. A championship hangover is almost always invevitable. The Celtics have certainly taken their eyes off the prize as of late, dropping four of their last five. Still, their recent 50-point win over the Toronto Raptors is proof the Celtics can flip a switch whenever they want.

Tonight’s matchup could be lopsided if the Celtics play their best brand of ball. But don’t discount the desperation this Wolves team could be playing with. Anthony Edwards is always capable of delivering a masterpiece. Let’s hope for a fun back-and-forth battle.
