New York Phoenix basketball team to hold tryouts

SCHENECTADY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- Schenectady's new professional basketball team, the New York Phoenix, will hold tryouts for its upcoming inaugural season on January 4. The tryouts will be held from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the Armory Studios NY, the team's home arena.
Hooper hopefuls will have the chance to play for Head Coach Trevis Wyche and join the roster of The Basketball League's (TBL) newest team, which already includes forward-center Mustapha Traore, guard-forward Josh Montgomery, forward-center Quadir Welton, and guard-forward-center Arsenio Arrington. The team's training camp will kick off on February 17, with the final roster being announced on February 21.
The Phoenix will play on a newly installed court that came to Schenectady from Paris after being featured in NBA Global Games matches in 2023 and 2024. The team's first home game is scheduled for February 28.
Armory Studios NY is located at 125 Washington Avenue in Schenectady. Tryout registration can be completed online for $125 or at the door on Saturday for $150.
