Previously with the Warriors:
Golden State was eliminated from the NBA Cup on Wednesday after a dramatic 91-90 loss to the Houston Rockets. It was a grind it out, defensive battle between two of the top five defensive teams in the league, and it ultimately came down to the final few possessions.
With the Warriors up 90-89 late in the fourth, Steph Curry missed a three-point attempt and the ensuing scramble for the ball resulted in the referees calling a loose ball foul on Golden State. This gave Houston two free-throws to put them ahead and take home the victory.

The controversial call had Warriors’ head coach Steve Kerr outraged after the game.
STEVE KERR: "I'm pissed off. I wanted to go to Las Vegas. We wanted to win this Cup. We aren't going because of a loose ball foul, 80 feet from the basket, with the game on the line. I've never seen anything like it in my life. That was ridiculous. Thank you."

What to watch for tonight:
While last week’s loss cost the team an opportunity to compete for the NBA Cup Championship in Las Vegas, the consolation is that they get to return home early with Sunday’s matchup against the Mavericks before heading off on a two-game road trip.
Of course, this also means an extra game against former Warrior Klay Thompson. The last time these two teams met was an emotional night at the Chase Center, full of festivities that celebrated the franchise legend. However, this time around is expected to be different. With his highly anticipated first return to the Bay out of the way, the matchup on the court should be the primary focus on Sunday night.
The Mavericks are 16-9 and rank as the fourth-best team in the West. They’ve won seven of their past eight games and have done so behind a strong offense which ranks fifth in the league in offensive rating.
Meanwhile, the Warriors continue to struggle on that side of the floor. Golden State could not generate any offense late against the Rockets, scoring just one basket after the 4:26 mark in the fourth quarter. Defenses are forcing anyone not named Curry to beat them, so the key for tonight’s game will be someone else stepping up and scoring points once the offense stalls.
