Geno Smith gives 49ers fans the “Night Night”
The Seahawks quarterback did Steph Curry’s signature celebration after scoring the game-winning touchdown Sunday at Levi’s Stadium
If there was ever a time where an NFL quarterback has earned the right to show up opposing fans, it’s when he’s run for a game-winning touchdown in the final seconds of a rivalry game. That’s what QB Geno Smith of the Seattle Seahawks did Sunday in a 20-17 win over the San Francisco 49ers, giving the fans Steph Curry’s “Night Night” celebration as he sent to Levi’s Stadium crowd home disappointed.

Injury, meet insult. Smith not only did Curry’s “Night Night” after putting the 49ers, and perhaps their hopes of winning the NFC West, to bed, but he did it on both sides of his head. Just in case the fans only got part of his profile. The Baby-Faced Assassin might have some notes about Smith’s style — you really need to hold the sleepy pose, commit harder to leaning into your pillow/hands — but the spirit of sticking it to a hostile crowd after sticking a dagger in them was absolutely a Curry move.
While the fans were surely annoyed by the Bay Area’s celebration being thrown back in their faces, it likely didn’t affect Curry. After all, he’s a die-hard fan of the Carolina Panthers, who Sunday won consecutive games for the first time since December of 2022. By the recent standards of the Panthers, that’s almost a Super Bowl win.
There’s some irony to Smith doing the “Night Night” Sunday. With three minutes left, the 49ers quickly drove into Seahawks territory, but their drive stalled just outside of field goal range. That’s right. The 49ers got Steph Curried late, all because they couldn’t hit a three-pointer.
