Winning appears contagious in Los Angeles, as Anthony Davis mentions the Dodgers giving him and the Lakers that extra motivation to dominate.

It doesn’t matter if we are talking about hockey, basketball, baseball, or even soccer; in L.A., the standard is to win it all.

The Los Angeles Dodgers accomplished that in October, winning the World Series over the Yankees and the entire city rejoiced with an epic parade.

The Lakers and Dodgers were unable to do this in 2020 when both franchises won their titles due to the pandemic.

On Friday, the Lakers hosted the Sixers, and the Dodgers attended the game and brought the trophy with them.

The Lakers are world-famous athletes and celebrities in their own right, but they were just as excited as the fans to see the World Champion Dodgers and pose for pictures.

The Lakers went on to win comfortably 116-106 and after the game, Anthony Davis discussed what it was like to have the Dodgers inside Crypto.com Arena.

“It was good…I’m banned from going to Dodgers Stadium,” Davis said. “[They’re] 0-4 when I go to a game so I just watch it on TV now. It’s good. It’s motivating. To see them holding the trophy, they met with us in the back before the game and then, at the end of the first quarter, to be able to see that brings a little extra motivation to our team to try to do the same thing for LA.”

A ban for AD is hilarious and with the Dodgers winning it all, I wonder if they’ll lift it next season or keep him away until the title defense is over.

The Lakers and Dodgers have a far deeper connection than just the city they reside in.

Rui Hachimura is enthusiastic about the Dodgers and the Japanese superstar Shoei Ohtani. He was excited when the Dodgers acquired the star player and even Kobe Bryant’s legacy helped bring Ohtani from the Angels to Los Angeles.

The number of Lakers who have been thrown out at a pitch at Dodger Stadium is far too long to name, but current players like AD, Hachimura, Jaxson Hayes, and Jarred Vanderbilt have done so recently.

The Dodgers also hosted a “Lakers Night” this past season, celebrating the Showtime Lakers and honoring Kobe Bryant by giving out Bryant jersey to fans.

While the Dodgers seemed to motivate AD it doesn’t appear that the Lakers big needs much this season. He’s currently dominating and averaging a league-high 32.4 points per game.

However, if the Lakers seeing what a job finished looks like for the Dodgers and that inspires players like AD, then fans should be all for it.
