Andrew Wiggins is another step closer to making his return to the Golden State Warriors lineup. The small forward, who missed time last week due to an illness, told reporters he felt much better and participated fully in Tuesday’s practice.

Head coach Steve Kerr already announced earlier this week that Wiggins will not play Wednesday’s preseason game against the Sacramento Kings. It’s still unclear how much preseason action Wiggins will get, but he’s expected to be ready for the regular season opener on October 23rd. Despite the time missed, Wiggins isn’t too concerned about his progress and remains optimistic about his readiness for the upcoming season.

Healthy Wiggins practices, but Warriors preseason status undecided | NBC Sports Bay Area

On Monday, Wiggins went through the entirety of practice outside of live reps. Sniffling through his media availability Tuesday and having to pause at one point for a couple of coughs, Wiggins said he was able to fully practice with everything the Warriors did one day before their preseason game against the Sacramento Kings at Golden 1 Center.

“I’m feeling better, a lot better than before,” Wiggins said.

Wiggins will not play Wednesday as he continues to get fully healthy and goes through more practice time after a week off. The Warriors play Friday at home against the Kings, and then again at Chase Center on Sunday against the Detroit Pistons.

It remains unclear if Wiggins will be able to play in either one of those games, though Kerr already has said he’ll be cleared before the regular-season opener on Oct. 23 in Portland.

Curry, though, never did get to join Thompson out on the water. He always thought there would be time. But life and the hectic schedule of raising a family made it difficult.

“It’s weird, we talked about [taking the boat out] when we first came into the league, stuff that we used to do together,” Curry said. “Then you start having families, me and Draymond have multiple kids and schedules going crazy. But I will get on this boat at some point, even though we’re not teammates anymore.

“You’re friends first, teammates second. And that is how the relationship is and we will always be. I wish it was both. But I love Klay, I respect him for 78 games out of the year. I won’t say I’ll be rooting for him, but I’ll be watching him. The other four games we play him, I’ll be ready to go at him.”

This year, the BPI is giving the Celtics a league-high 26% chance to repeat as NBA champions. It really likes them and is hoping for no soap operas there. Boston had talent at every position last year, and the people who got on coach Joe Mazzulla’s case the year before for his decisions had to stay silent through a dominant run. The BPI doesn’t explicitly see the details running through Mazzulla’s brain, but it sees enough, and thinks they will lead to a 19th banner raised in Boston.

Smith was adamant the Valkyries not borrow anything from their future roommates, including team colors and locker rooms. She understood the immediate peripheral optics of success the Valkyries stood to gain by adopting blue and gold. The Warriors are, after all, one of the most beloved and successful franchises in basketball — and globally known. But that was exactly the point, the Valkyries need to forge their own identity. Likewise with team space. The team will have their own dedicated, 31,800 square foot practice facilities in Downtown Oakland, and a brand new 6,800 square foot locker room on the other side of the Bay, in Chase Center.
