Will Jayden Reed play in Week 2 against the Colts?

The Green Bay Packers have listed wide receiver Jayden Reed as questionable heading into Week 2 against the Indianapolis Colts, according to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.

Reed will be a player to monitor heading into Sunday. Said head coach Matt LaFluer on Friday, “He is a dog, and I mean that in the highest regard...You could see it last year playing through injury. He was beat up pretty good last year and we continued to feed him the football.” The Packers do have good depth at the wide receiver position, but the absence of Reed would still have an impact on the offense.

Jayden Reed Injury Status

The Packers wide receiver wasn’t listed on the injury report until Friday. Reed was described to have a calf/shin injury and was a limited participant in Friday’s practice. It would be a minor surprise if Reed is unable to play against the Colts. However, he is certainly someone to watch given that he was such a late addition to the injury report.

How will Jayden Reed’s Injury Impact Fantasy Football

Reed was the Packers’ top wide receiver in Week 1. The second-year player had 138 receiving yards on just four receptions and a touchdown against the Philadelphia Eagles in Brazil. He averaged 34.5 yards per reception and his touchdown came from 33 yards out.

Outside of Reed, Romeo Doubs was also a primary target in the Packers passing game. Doubs matched Reed’s four receptions, but had more targets with seven. If Reed is unable to go, Doubs could get a boost along with Christian Watson.

Even if Reed is injured, the Packers will make it a point to get Reed the football. He is the top weapon in the offense and a playmaker whenever the ball is in his hands. The Packers wide receiver room has been difficult to predict over the past two years, but one consistent has been Reed. He has scored 15 PPR points or more in eight out of his last nine regular season games.

Again, with Reed injured he will be one to monitor going into Sunday. However, Reed’s injury in combination with Jordan Love potentially missing the game as well could make the receiver a riskier play. Malik Willis would be the starting quarterback if Love can’t go which could lead to a more run-heavy game-plan. Willis has zero career touchdown passes in three starts. That would mean that Josh Jacobs could be the focal point in the Packers offense against the Colts. Jacobs had 84 yards on 16 carries in Week 1. Last week, Joe Mixon put up 159 yards and one touchdown on the Colts defense.
