After impressing through a series of 7-day contracts, Crystal Dangerfield has earned a deal for the rest of the season with the Sparks.

Following a trio of 7-day contracts, the Sparks have signed Crystal Dangerfield for the remainder of the season, the team announced on Friday. Dangerfield has played seven games for the Sparks.

In her seven outings, Dangerfield is averaging 4.1 points and 2.3 assists in 15.5 minutes per game. For a Sparks team that has struggled with guard play, Dangerfield has provided some bright moments during her run of games.

Against the Sky, she tallied 11 points and six assists and followed that up with nine points and four assists in the next game against the Aces.

The former Rookie of the Year has bounced around the league since her first campaign, trying to find a landing spot that can help her reach that form again.

Considering the Sparks’ position at the bottom of the standings and at the top of the draft lottery, taking a chance on Dangerfield after some strong showings seems like exactly the type of move they should be making.

The team is in the middle of a rebuild and if you can strike gold on someone like Dangerfield and help her refind that form, then that’s a potential home run. And if things don’t work out, then you’ve wasted little for the remainder of this season.

The Sparks have 14 games remaining this season and currently are tied with both the Wings and Mystics for the worst record in the league at 6-22. With the draft lottery based on records over the last two years, the Sparks have a two-game “lead” over the Mystics for the No. 1 spot.
