The Lakers made official the coaching staff for JJ Redick, led by Nate McMillan and Scott Brooks.

The Lakers officially announced JJ Redick’s coaching staff with no surprises. Prior to the announcement, nearly every coaching hire had been previous reported and Monday confirmed that.

The coaching staff next season will be Nate McMillan, Scott Brooks, Bob Beyer, Greg St. Jean, Lindsey Harding and Beau Levesque as assistant coaches while Michael Wexler was named the head video coordinator.

Redick included a quote in the team’s press release as well:

“Through an intentional and thorough process, we’ve brought together an experienced, diverse and dedicated coaching staff,” Redick said. “Our goal from day one is about fostering a high-performing environment of player development and team alignment through relentless work, daily collaboration and innovation. Players and staff are here to enjoy the pursuit of excellence every time they step on the court.

The expectations are clear, and my staff and I are committed to doing everything we need to do to ensure success at the highest level.”

After firing Darvin Ham, the Lakers cleaned house of the former coaching staff, leaving a host of hires needing to be made. On top of getting experience with McMillan and Brooks, both of whom are former head coaches, the Lakers also landed an experienced G League coach in Harding, too. They brought back a former Lakers assistant in Greg St. Jean, who won a title with the team in 2020.

Levesque being named as an assistant coach is perhaps a little bit interesting. Given his role with the Clippers as a development coordinator, there were some thoughts that he could take the role of director of player development that Redick had hinted at. For now, though, that role appears to remain open.

Still, it’s a deep and experienced staff Redick has compiled and one that should have fans excited.
