Bryson DeChambeau tabs former President Donald Trump to join latest YouTube video

Reigning U.S. Open champion and rising YouTube star Bryson DeChambeau has invited Donald Trump to join him on his channel.

At the Jun. 27 Presidential debate between former President Donald Trump and current President Joe Biden, the two candidates briefly bickered about their handicaps, which received national attention and immediately went viral.

Immediately after the debate ended, reigning U.S. Open champion Bryson DeChambeau offered a solution and a chance for both men to settle their dispute: to play a round of golf against one another on DeChambeau’s YouTube page, which has skyrocketed in popularity as of late.

“Let’s settle this whole handicap debate,” DeChambeau wrote on X on the evening of Jun. 27.

“I’ll host the golf match on my YouTube @realDonaldTrump @JoeBiden.”

Since DeChambeau disclosed his idea, a lot has transpired in American politics. Yet, as the two-time major champion announced on Monday, Trump agreed to join DeChambeau on his channel.

“Break 50 with @realDonaldTrump dropping tomorrow on my YouTube channel!” DeChambeau posted on X.

“On this special episode, we will be donating $10,000 to the Wounded Warrior Project for every stroke we score under par. Stay tuned.”

DeChambeau also posted that he reached out to both presidential campaigns in recent weeks and added that Trump “was down for the challenge.”

He noted that this episode is more about golf and raising funds for military veterans, and not politics:

“To be clear, this is about golf and giving back to our nation’s veterans, not politics,” DeChambeau added in a subsequent post.

“A few weeks ago, I reached out to both parties’ presidential campaigns, and @realDonaldTrump was down for the challenge. It is an incredible honor to be able to enjoy a round of golf with any sitting or former President, and all have an open invitation to join me for a round of Break 50 anytime.”

The episode will air on Tuesday, Jul. 23, but DeChambeau did not specify when it will go live.

He did, however, post a tease of the episode on his Instagram page, with the caption, “The Next Breaking 50 episode dropping...” while AC/DC’s Thunderstruck plays in the background.

In these episodes, DeChambeau invites a guest to join him in a scramble from the red tees to try and break 50—a preposterously low score, even from the most forward teeing grounds. Recent guests on this series have included Paige Spiranac, 2017 Masters champion Sergio Garcia, and Long Drive champion Martin Borgmeier. DeChambeau has seven episodes of ‘Breaking 50’ in his YouTube repertoire and 100 other videos on his channel.

Other series and episodes revolve around DeChambeau’s major championship triumphs, trick shots, matches, and lessons. He also posts videos that ask, “Can I break par with a set of Walmart starter clubs?” This is undoubtedly a curious question, one that has allured 1.7 million people to watch his episode.

But considering the state of American politics at the moment and how the former President has routinely incorporated his golf game into his state of affairs, DeChambeau’s next episode of ‘Breaking 50’ has the potential to garner his biggest audience yet.
