Both very good players with great skill sets,” Holmgren said. “Both have skill sets that complement other skill sets that we have.” Holmgren also believes both will benefit from their time on the Thunder. The Oklahoma City Thunder had a successful offseason. With over $30 million to spend in cap space, the additions of Alex Caruso and Isaiah Hartenstein shore up weaknesses from last season. After receiving great reviews from pundits, Chet Holmgren stamped his approval on the Thunder’s offseason moves. The result — another Summer League victory and some critic silencing — was momentary. Maybe in the 93-89 win against the Cleveland Cavaliers, there was something more. From the jump, Dalton Knecht, the Lakers’ first rounder, splashed threes and attacked the rim with an athletic two-handed dunk. It all reinforced that he can score — something the team and Redick will probably try to incorporate this season. Knecht scored 20 and grabbed seven rebounds, looking like a piece the Lakers could try to use sooner than later. Bronny James, more of a long-term developmental project, showed the midrange and rim-attacking skills that can help offset a three-point shot that’s still under construction. But the most popular pick by bettors so far is a massive long shot with a famous last name. More bets have been placed on Bronny James to win Rookie of the Year (ROY) than any other player at multiple sportsbooks. James has attracted nearly one in four of the bets placed on the ROY market at ESPN BET. BetMGM reported taking a $1,000 ROY bet on James at 250-1 on July 6, from a bettor in Ontario, and DraftKings said that only Edey had attracted more money wagered than James in its ROY market. -via ESPN / July 18, 2024
