Sasha Vezenkov returning to Olympiacos?

0 18
Bulgarian star Sasha Vezenkov is set to return to Olympiacos Piraeus after a season in the NBA, according to Konstantinos Melayes of Gazzetta.gr. Vezenkov reportedly informed Panathinaikos AKTOR Athens, another potential suitor in Europe, that he declined their offer. A recent NBA trade sent Vezenkov from the Sacramento Kings to the Toronto Raptors, which facilitated this EuroLeague move. According to the same report, Vezenkov will be released from his NBA contract and placed on the waiver list for the next 48 hours. This process will allow Olympiacos to finalize the deal.

More on this storyline

Meanwhile, the case of new Raptors forward Sasha Vezenkov, obtained from Sacramento in a draft-day trade, grows more curious. According to reports in Europe, Vezenkov has signed a deal with Greek team Olympiacos. But he’s under contract with the Raptors and there have been no discussions of waiving him or working out a buyout. Without either happening, he can’t sign a second pro basketball contract. -via Toronto Star / July 5, 2024
Michael Grange: So, according to those in position to know, reports that Sasha Vezenkov is leaving NBA to play in Greece are … not true. The former King has 1yr left on his NBA deal, Raptors control his rights, & have no intention of waiving him & expect to have him in training camp. Carry on. -via Twitter @michaelgrange / June 29, 2024
Jason Anderson: The Sacramento Kings have officially announced the trade to acquire Jalen McDaniels from the Toronto Raptors in exchange for Davion Mitchell, Sasha Vezenkov, the draft rights to Jamal Shead and a 2025 second-round pick. -via Twitter @JandersonSacBee / June 28, 2024
