Could the Cavs add multiple rookies in this class?

The 2024 NBA Draft is the first draft taking place over two nights. As of now, the Cleveland Cavaliers don’t have any picks in the second round on day two.

That, however, doesn’t mean they aren’t looking at getting into the second round. Per cleveland.com’s Chris Fedor, the Cavs have had “numerous conversations” with teams picking in the second round to see if they could add another pick.

From Fedor:

While the Cavs enter this chaotic two-day extravaganza with just one selection — No. 20 overall in the first round — sources tell cleveland.com that they’ve had numerous conversations with each team picking in the second round to gauge the viability of acquiring another pick while trying to determine the cost of that kind of aggressive move.

Prospects Fedor mentions as possibly of interest to the Cavs: Washington State’s Jaylen Wells; Washington Stats’s Isaac Jones; USC’s Boogie Ellis; Utah State’s Darius Brown; and Kansas’ Kevin McCullar Jr.

How this happens is still to-be-determined. Could it be the Cavs buying a pick? Could it be from them trading back from No. 20 and picking up a second-round pick in the process? Or is there another message? All feel possible.

Let’s see what the Cavs get up to.
