Fun video for Duke fans

In one sense, you have to feel a bit for Cooper Flagg. The high school superstar is, and not by his own volition either, deep in the hype machine. He’s been called a generational talent, a future #1 pick in the NBA Draft and a lot more things as well.

Will he be that good? Only time will tell. People who have watched the game for a while can tell you a list of guys who were supposed to be great but who, for various reasons, didn’t turn out. Harold Minor, aka Baby Jordan, never really panned out. Michael Olowakandi was a controversial #1 pick in 1989 and rightly so. He washed out pretty quickly. Kwame Brown has been much more interesting after his career than during it.

Then there are guys who just suffered injuries that made it impossible to stay at a high level. Former Duke star Jabari Parker had devastating knee injuries. Sam Bowie was just fragile. Jason Williams was not, but he was no match for a motorcycle injury that also wrecked his career.

The point is that even the best talent scouts get caught up in the hype. We’re impressed with Flagg but only time will tell.

But we all ride the hype train, hoping the next Great One is pulling into the station.

So while you can’t tell much from this video where Flagg gets on the court with fellow Montverde alum and Brotherhood member RJ Barrett, you can see that he feels comfortable going against the Toronto Raptor.

Keep in mind that Flagg should be a rising high school senior.
