Valkyries surpass 10,000 season ticket deposits
The Bay’s newest team is already popular.
It will be another year before we get to watch the Golden State Valkyries play their first basketball game. But it’s abundantly apparently that the Bay Area’s newest sports team is already a hit with the fans.
When the Golden State Warriors ownership group revealed in October that they had been awarded an expansion WNBA team, the then-unnamed squad received thousands of deposits for season tickets. And now, a few days after announcing that the team will be named the Valkyries — and unveiling the logo and color scheme — that number has surged further.
On Friday, the Valkyries announced that they had surpassed the 10,000 mark of season ticket deposits.

That is a massive amount of season tickets, especially in the WNBA, a league that is still relatively new and establishing fanbases. And it’s a number that will surely only grow between now and the franchise debut next May ... and surely grow further once the team experiences the level of success that Joe Lacob has already guaranteed.
The Valkyries will play their games at Chase Center, which has a capacity of 18,064. It’s not unrealistic to think that the Valkyries could regularly fill the better part of the stadium when single-game tickets are accounted for. That would surely make Chase Center one of the most exciting and raucous arenas in the WNBA.
In the meantime, if you’re not already watching the WNBA, I strongly recommend checking it out and familiarizing yourself with the Valkyries’ future opponents. There are more nationally-televised games this year than ever before, and League Pass is extremely affordable.
