Matt Ryan has not played since November 18th - he is still second on the Pelicans in 3PM this season so far, after only Hawkins.
We finally have an update on Matt Ryan with a little more detail. Unfortunately, it's not good news.
After an arthroscopy to remove loose bodies in his elbow, it's going to be 6-8 weeks for his recovery. 6 weeks from today is January 23rd - 8 weeks takes us to February 6th.
I'd still say sign him anyway to a contract. He was shooting 47% on high volume from 3 and that doesn't grow on trees; and it's not entirely outlier, as he was an efficient shooter on volume in his previous NBA stints too (though on a small sample size, admittedly) and was a good college shooter as well. It does leave us with some roster bloat, but I think most people generally agree that we're in need of a consolidation trade at this point anyway just to duck under the tax if nothing else, so we could work around it.
Tough out for him though. Hope he recovers well and quickly.
