Golden State basketball is on the way! Come join our game thread and chat about tonight’s matchup here.

The Golden State Warriors will play the Portland Trail Blazers for their 21st game of the season on Wednesday night. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:00 PM PT in San Francisco and can be watched on NBC Sports Bay Area.

Previously with the Warriors:

Last Saturday, Golden State lost their road matchup against the Los Angeles Clippers, 113-112. The Warriors led the entire game, however, they saw their lead slowly disintegrate in the second half, culminating in Paul George’s go-ahead shot with less than 10 seconds remaining.

Steph Curry — who led the team with 22 points, 11 assists, and 4 rebounds — had an opportunity to win the game with the final shot. Golden State inbounded the ball, leaving Curry isolated with Clippers’ superstar and former Defensive Player of the Year, Kawhi Leonard. Curry drove but was stonewalled by Leonard, forcing him to kick it out to an open Draymond Green in the corner. Green shot it well that night, finishing 4-of-8 from deep, but he could not convert the last one resulting in the Warriors’ 11th loss of the season.

What to watch for tonight:

The extra days between games was beneficial for the Warriors as it gave them additional time to get healthy. After missing the past two games with a lower left leg nerve contusion, backup point guard Chris Paul is expected to play in tonight’s game. Meanwhile, Andrew Wiggins is expected to return to the starting lineup after missing the previous game with a finger injury.

Golden State also should have had enough time to look over and, hopefully, correct the mistakes hindering them during their first 20 games of the season. Steve Kerr specifically mentions excessive fouling and turnovers as the key aspects of their game that the team needs to clean up.

Although the Warriors rank eighth in the league in highest turnover percentage (15.0), they’re still better than the Blazers who own the third highest percentage at 16.4. Taking care of the ball will be critical in establishing an offensive rhythm for both teams, but especially in the case of Portland, who struggles on that side of the ball with a league worst offensive rating of 105.4. If Curry and company can run their offense efficiently, the Warriors should have no problem outscoring a Blazers team that is still trying to find their identity after undergoing an offseason of major changes.

It should be a fun game. Enjoy the basketball Dub Nation. GO WARRIORS!!!
