Former Iona forward Quinn Slazinski has committed to Rick Pitino and St. John’s.
He becomes the third Iona player to transfer to the Johnnies, joining Daniss Jenkins and Cruz Davis.
“I’ve decided to continue my basketball career under the great Hall of Fame coach, Rick Pitino, at St. John’s University,” Slazinski said. “With it being my last year, I had no choice but to trust my instincts and finish my career the way it should.”
The 6-foot-9 Houston native averaged 11.3 points on 42.6% shooting last season under Pitino. He also grabbed 5.7 rebounds.
“With Rick Pitino‘s European offense, me being able to do a little bit of everything helps me thrive under a coach like him,” he said.
I played on the same Little League basketball team as [Noah] Thomasson,” Slazinski continued. “And no better way to end it the way you started.”
St. John’s will be Slazinki’s third school after transferring from Louisville two seasons ago.
Overall, Slazinski is the fifth transfer Pitino and his staff have brought in this offseason, including former UConn guard Nahiem Alleyne and former VMI guard Sean Conway.
