[Men's Soccer] Men's Soccer Honors Awarded
LIVONIA, Mich. - (COMPLETE HONORS) - The Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) announced its 2022 Men's Soccer Honors at the conclusion of the tournament final. Regular season champion Madonna took all of the top individual honors. Ryota Nakajima was named Offensive Player of the Year with nine goals and five assists on the year. Teammate Breno Stapcinskas earned Defensive Player of the Year after leading a defense that allowed just 10 goals during the season. Jordy Lopez was recognized as Newcomer of the Year with 10 goals and five assists.
MU head coach Mark Zathey was voted as Coach of the Year for leading the Crusaders to a 9-0-2 league record. Steve Herdsman of Cornerstone repeated as the Champions of Character Coach for his comittment to building character through sports.
In additon to the individual honors, the WHAC named its All-Conference Teams including an All-Newcomer Team, an All-Academic Team for junior and above in academic standing with cumulative 3.25 GPA and in attendance at nomination institution for one full year, and Champions of Character Team consisting of one member from each team who best represents the five core character values of integrity, respect, responsibility, sportsmanship, and servant leadership.
