NBA 2K23 The City Preview

0 38

The release of NBA 2K23 is imminent, but before it officially launches, the latest developer blog has given us all a preview of The City. Once again, The City will be the hub world for MyCAREER in the Next Gen version of NBA 2K23, whereas Current Gen has the GOAT Boat.

Key improvements this year include reducing the size of The City and adding fast travel options to make it easier to traverse. There are also new designs for the stomping grounds of the four affiliations, a central area for the competitive modes, and an arena for NBA games.

Once again, I’ve summarised the blog below, but be sure to read it for the full scoop and preview screenshots. You can also check out the trailer that was released. Got any thoughts? Feel free to share them in the comments below, as well as join in the discussion here in the NLSC Forum! With the game almost in our hands, our post-release coverage will be tipping off very soon. As such, we invite you to stick around for everything we do here, from discussion of the game to our modding community!

NBA 2K23 The City Blog Summary

  • This year’s City is approximately 30% smaller than the one in NBA 2K22. As such, there are fewer unused buildings, and shorter travel distances.
  • Subway Stations act as fast travel locations around The City. Hitting R1 will mark the nearest one, and guide you to it.
  • The boroughs for the four Park affiliations (South City Vipers, North Side Knights, Western Wildcats, and Beasts of the East) have their own designs which fit their individual themes.
  • All of the competitive modes – The Theater, Pro-Am, The Rec, Ante-Up, Club 2K, Black Lives Matter court, and the Kobe court – can be found in one central location: The Block.
  • The Theater replaces the Warehouse buildings from NBA 2K22. Each week, there will be four different events taking place at The Theater, which will introduce some new game types with their own rewards. These events will change every Friday morning, Pacific Time.
  • MyPLAYERs will travel to The Arena to play their NBA games. It will also be involved in quests and off-court activities.
  • J. Cole’s Dreamville Studio can be accessed after the appropriate connections/quests are completed.
  • The Event Center returns, and there will be new events to partake in throughout the year.
  • A Jordan Challenge building will provide quick access to the mode.
  • Completing objectives in the Jordan Challenge will unlock a UNC Michael Jordan jersey, Gold Jumpman necklace, and No. 23 calf sleeve (with a +1 Dunk boost) for your MyPLAYER.
  • There will be four objectives to reach Legend status in The City. Both The City on Next Gen and GOAT Boat on Current Gen will have their own unique rewards.
  • Seasons return, with a new Season beginning every six weeks.
