Four-star guard Jamari McDowell to commit later this month

Class of 2023 four-star guard Jamari McDowell will make his college decision on Sept. 24, per Joe Tipton of On3.

The 6-foot-4, 180-pound shooting guard from Manvel High School (TX) and the Houston Defenders AAU program, has recently climbed up the national rankings. McDowell jumped nearly 40 total spots to the No. 42 ranked player in the country by 247Sports.

McDowell released a top four schools list of Kansas, Texas A&M, Wake Forest and Xavier a few weeks back. The Texas native gave his thoughts on a few of those schools at the UAA finals in Chicago in late-July:

Wake Forest: “Coach [Matt] Woodley and coach [Brooks] Savage right there, just pointed at me and said good job or whatever. I know at Wake the people are solid for sure. They care about you and treat you like family.”

Xavier: “Same thing. They both have a small school setting. So it’s less people. The classes are small, it’s kind of like high school, but you still get the college joy.”

Kansas: “Coach [Jeremy] Case, coach Bill [Self], they all seem like really good people. I don’t even know. They are all just really positive, tell you what’s real.”

All of those schools were represented at the UAA finals to see McDowell play. McDowell visited KU last weekend, and he’s also officially visited all of his other top choices.
