[WHAC] WHAC Commissioner Rob Miller to Retire
Current Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) commissioner Rob Miller announced his retirement effect at the end of the year. Miller has been a part of the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) since its conception in 1992.
In 2011, Miller became the WHAC's second full-time commissioner after previously serving as a part-time commissioner from 1992-97. Between 1998 and 2008 he was on the NAIA's staff and held regular communication with member schools. He served as commissioner of The Sun Conference immediately before returning to the WHAC, and even then he still kept in contact with WHAC schools.
During his tenure, the WHAC grew by four full-time members as Miller welcomed Lourdes, Lawrence Tech, Rochester, and Cleary. He also introduced the concept of affiliate members for individual sports as soon grew that number to seven.
The number of championship sports increased as well under his watch as the WHAC added 10 sports and became the first NAIA conference to sponsor bowling and lacrosse as championship sports in 2012. Under his leadership, the WHAC also sponsored non-NAIA sports in men's hockey and eSports.
