BOYS BASKETBALL TOP 10
1. Sierra Canyon (20-3): The Trailblazers suffered a 66-62 loss to Camden of New Jersey over the weekend despite 23 points from Amari Bailey. Sierra Canyon will host the program’s last Gold Coast League game Tuesday against Windward before going to the Mission League next year.
2. Harvard-Westlake (20-2): The Wolverines are Open Division bound, especially after taking down Crean Lutheran at the Nike Extravaganza Saturday.
3. St. Francis (20-5): The Golden Knights beat Viewpoint (63-51) then lost to Bakersfield Christian (74-61) without Buckley DeJardin.
4. Notre Dame (19-4): The Knights’ regular season is complete. They’ll rest up and prepare for the postseason, but it remains to be seen if they’ll be selected for the CIF Southern Section Open Division or be a top seed in Division 2AA.
5. West Ranch (15-7): The Wildcats are rolling through the Foothill League (8-0). Andrew Meadow (18.4), James Evans (16.9), Jaqari Miles (16.8) and Bryce Cofield (10.4) are all averaging double figures.
West Valley League basketball parity complicates City’s Open Division playoff race
6. Village Christian (20-3): The Crusaders can win the Olympic League crown outright with another win over Heritage Christian Monday night.
7. Oak Park (18-5): The Eagles dropped its first league game to Camarillo this past week without star junior Isaiah Sherrard. The unexpected loss could wake up Oak Park before the playoffs start.
8. Heritage Christian (17-4): The Warriors will seek revenge after losing to Village Christian last Tuesday in the final seconds.
9. Saugus (14-9-1): The Centurions are one of the hardest-working teams in the area. Effort is never in question with an Alfredo Manzano-coached team. Saugus beat Santa Clarita Christian, Bakersfield Christian and Highland without Nathan Perez. Impressive.
10. Birmingham Charter (12-7): The Patriots took down Taft in a West Valley League showdown, 59-56, thanks to a clutch 3-pointer in the final 30 seconds from point guard Tyson Jackson.
Bubble teams: Thousand Oaks (16-4); Taft (12-5); Simi Valley (19-4)
