[Men's Basketball] Williams Named KCAC Defensive Player of the Week
WICHITA, Kan. – Friends University senior guard TJ Williams has earned KCAC Defensive Player of the Week honors, the league announced today (Feb. 1).
A native of Arlington, Texas, Williams averaged 3.5 steals per game in the Falcons' two victories this week. He also recorded three defensive rebounds per game, including six defensive boards in a convincing 84-64 victory over Avila University last Saturday night (Jan. 30).
For the season, Williams is tops on the team and second in the KCAC with 2.6 steals per game.
A defensive stalwart, Williams has twice posted a career-high tying six steals in a game thus far this season.
"TJ being selected as the KCAC Defensive Player of the Week is a deserved award," said Friends head coach Dale Faber said. "He sets the tone for us with his willingness to pressure the ball. His tenacity and energy are something we all feed off of."
Williams and the Falcons are in action tonight at (RV) Oklahoma Wesleyan University. Tip-off is set for 7 pm in Bartlesville, Okla.
