[Men's Basketball] Bearcats Drop Consecutive RSC Contests
The Brescia men's basketball team dropped consecutive River States Conference games against the University of Rio Grande and West Virginia Tech on January 9 and January 11, respectively.
On January 9, the Bearcats fell at home in a back-and-forth battle against the University of Rio Grande, 67-70. The Bearcats competed well against the Red Storm and led 27-23. The Bearcats' defense was able to disrupt the Red Storm to open the game, limiting the team to only shooting 20% from the floor.
The Bearcats kept applying pressure to Rio Grande in the second half of a game that saw Brescia take two double digit leads, but the Bearcats weren't able to convert free throw attempts at the end of the game, leading to a 67-70 loss to the Red Storm.
On January 11, the Bearcats started out slow against a stong, defensive West Virginia Tech team. The Bearcats quickly found themselves down 0-8 in the opening minutes of the game, but eventually were able to find their groove offensively. Despite Brescia's early struggles, the Bearcats only trailed by 14 at halftime, 38-24.
Brescia competed against WVU Tech a lot stonger in the second half, outscoring the River States Conference opponent 45-43 in the final half. However, the Bearcats late game resurgence was not enought to make up for its slow start, resulting in a 69-81 loss to WVU Tech. With the loss, the Bearcats dropped to 1-4 in River States Conference play.
Brescia will be back in action on January 18 at home against 13 ranked Indiana University Kokomo at 3:00 p.m.
