— The January 5 edition of basketball schedules, scores and standings for Region XIV and Region V is posted here in printable PDF form.
The weekly update features links to expanded standings, plus team-by-team schedules and scores for all 31 of the Division I teams grouped together in Texas, Louisiana and New Mexico.
Region V’s Northern Texas Junior College Athletic Conference started conference play Saturday, Jan. 4.
Region XIV East member Tyler (12-0/4-0) and Region V NTJCAC’s Temple Leopards (15-0) remain the only unbeatens heading into January.
Top-ranked Ranger (16-1) dropped its first game of the season on New Year’s Eve. In a non-conference meeting at Big Spring, the Howard Hawks edged Ranger, 73-72, in overtime.
Key features to watch January 6-11 will be: (1) a three-game schedule of conference games for Region XIV teams (Monday, Wednesday and Saturday); and (2) Monday’s showdown in Region V’s Western Junior College Athletic Conference at Clarendon between South Plains (10-4/2-0) and the CC Bulldogs (14-1/2-0) at the Dawg House.
