[Men's Basketball] Bryan's Home Court Offense sails by SAU Knights in AAC rematch
DAYTON, Tenn. – The St. Andrews Men's Basketball team traveled to Bryan College for an AAC rematch, after the Knights powered past Bryan on Nov. 9th at Harris Court with a score of 84-63.
The offense of Bryan College was dominate at their home court on Saturday afternoon as they defeated St. Andrews with a score of 83-66.
How It Happened
Jamaan Bailey was the first to drill a shot for the Knights with a 3-pointer on their first possession and basketed the next goal for SAU to tie the game 5-5 against the Lions of Bryan College.
The Lions picked up a 2-point lead off a fast break before sending Travis Thompson Jr. to the free throw line to pick up a point for SAU. Isaac Clay would put the Knights back in possession of the lead after a jumper from the paint, making the score 10-9.
Bryan College's offense stretched out a 17-point run to regain the lead with less than 10 minutes remaining in the first half.
A shot in the paint by Myron Williams put the Lions scoring streak to a halt and was followed by a basket from Darryl McCaster, with SAU trailing by 17.
Bryan responded with a shot from behind the arc and a basket in the paint before SAU's Thompson Jr. bucketed his pair of free throws.
Going into halftime, the Knights trailed by 17 points after shooting .367 and going 3 for 7 from behind the arc. The Lions shot an impressive .514 in the first half and .533 from the 3-point range.
St. Andrews forced a Lions timeout after cutting their once 24-point lead to just 10 points after a Jamaan Bailey basket from downtown from an impressive pass from Myron Williams just 5 minutes into the second half, 42-52.
Bryan College was not stopped for long, responding with a 12-point run to put the Knight down 48-66 with just over 7 minutes remaining in the game.
The Knights were unable to catch up to Bryan in the final minutes of the game, falling 83-66 to the Lions.
Key Players
Issac Clay brought in 21 points for the Knights, shooting the game-high in the AAC matchup.
Myron Williams recorded 15 points while Jamaan Bailey tallied 12, shooting .500 overall in the game.
Leading the Knights in rebounds was Travis Thompson Jr. with 11, while also collecting 7 points for St. Andrews.
