The Cavs say he’ll miss 1-2 weeks.

According to a press release sent out by the Cavs, forward Larry Nance Jr. will miss 1-2 weeks due to left knee soreness. According to the team, he has been dealing with soreness since he missed the Cavs’ game against the Hawks on Dec. 23. He has played in four games since.

Per the team, Nance underwent imaging today by the Cavs’ medical staff and was ruled out for the next 1-2 weeks. What he’s dealing with besides soreness is unclear.

Losing Nance will jostle John Beilein’s rotation. Since Dante Exum came in and Jordan Clarkson was traded to Utah, Nance has been part of a bench unit that has been good so far, albeit in a small sample. To compensate, Beilein would seem to have two options: go big and play Ante Zizic or go small and play Alfonzo McKinnie. The later option, considering McKinnie has played more this year, feels likely. If Dylan Windler were healthy, he’d also be a candidate for more time. Two-way players Dean Wade and Tyler Cook could be options as well.

In 31 appearances this season, Nance is averaging 8 points and 7 rebounds in 24.3 minutes per game.
