[Women's Basketball] UAV Runs Past WJU in Non-Conference Win
Chinna Fair and Alexia Budd propelled Antelope Valley to an 88-79 non-conference win over William Jessup last Saturday. The Pioneers, ranked No. 15 in the NAIA Division II national poll, built a comfortable 13-point advantage by the end of the opening period and led by as many as 16 points two different times in the second period before ultimately taking a 14-point lead into the intermission, 45-31. UAV increased its lead to as many as 17 points during the third period, and, despite allowing the Warriors to creep back to within eight points in the fourth, the Pioneers earned the win over WJU, which received votes in the NAIA Division I poll. Fair led all scorers with a season-high 28 points on 10-of-14 shooting from the floor and made 6-of-9 3-point attempts, as well as grabbing seven rebounds. Budd scored 22 points on 9-of-14 shooting, was a perfect 2-for-2 from three, and she pulled down seven boards. Ahjana Oakes added 14 points, and Tylen Price chipped in 11 points.
