Check Out Nolan Smith And The Hoop-A-Thon This Weekend
Good people doing good deeds
It would be very difficult to dislike Nolan Smith. When he played at Duke he almost always had a smile. He’s one of those guys you’d just like to be around because he seems happy and positive.
That’s not always been the case though. He lost his father Derek at an early age and it wounded him deeply, understandably.
That’s part of the reason why he works with former Tar Heel Brice Johnson on the Hoop-a-thon fundraiser.
Like Smith, Johnson lost a parent early, in his case his mother, to colon cancer.
As they’ll tell you, they’re rivals on the court but off the court they’re friends and in this battle, they’re brothers.
If you can, consider going this weekend. You’ll get some fun hoops and a chance to do something nice as well.
