Last 2 Minute Report: Andre Iguodala cleanly stripped Damian Lillard

0 15

Blazers fans were unhappy with the officiating on Game 2’s final play, but the NBA disagrees.

In the final seconds of the Golden State Warriors Game 2 victory over the Portland Trail Blazers, Andre Iguodala made one of the finest plays of his career. With the Blazers trailing by three, and the ball in the hands of cold-blooded Damian Lillard, everyone knew what was coming: A pull-up three point attempt.

Iguodala pressured Lillard into feeling uncomfortable, and as the sharpshooter rose up, the defensive ace swiped the ball away, and grabbed it. A few seconds later, the game was over.

It was beautiful. If you’re a Warriors fan, at least.

But many Blazers fans - and players - called foul. Literally. They thought that Iguodala got away with contact, and that Lillard should have been sent to the free throw line.

The NBA disagrees. In their Last 2 Minute Report, the league stated that the non-whistle was correct:

Iguodala (GSW) makes marginal contact with Lillard (POR) on the perimeter before cleanly stripping the ball.

On the whole, it was a well-called end to the game. The league found no incorrect calls or non-calls, though it noted that, with enhanced video, Lillard appeared to travel in the final seconds, but . . . come on.

Of course, it’s unlikely that this makes the Blazers feel any better, but at least Warriors fans can gloat with a clean conscience.
