[Men's Basketball] Cavs defeat Knights 100-73 to win four straight
LAURINBURG, N.C. – For the second consecutive game, the No. 24 Cavaliers hit triple digits on the scoreboard as they defeated the St. Andrews Knights 100-73 Saturday afternoon in another Appalachian Athletic Conference victory. The squad's fourth consecutive win puts them at 16-4 (13-3 AAC).
Montreat's dominating performance was highlighted by an 11-0 run midway through the second half that pushed their lead to 26 and officially put the game out of reach for the Knights.
The Cavs' advantage would later reach 32 points in the closing two minutes of the contest after a bucket from Amara Morris and a pair of treys from Shad Blanton.
Austin Butler posted the game-high 25 points while pulling down six boards. Nicodemus Payne and Alonzo Mobley put up 17 points each as Payne also led the Cavs with five assists, and Mobley led defensively with eight rebounds. Eric Reed was the final Cav scoring in double-figures, posting 10 points from the bench.
Montreat shot 53.5 percent from the field, including 16-39 from behind the arc. The squad was able to put up 19 points off of 16 St. Andrews turnovers.
