MONTREAT, N.C. – Four Cavs scored in double figures as men's basketball defeated the Brevard Tornados 95-72 Monday afternoon for their final game of 2018. The Cavaliers end the calendar year receiving votes with a record of 9-2 (6-1 AAC).

"I was very appreciative to see a lot of fans come out and support our program today. I know that our guys were excited to get out there and play after a long break," said head coach Garrett Jones.

Austin Butler led the Cavs in scoring on the night with 21 points. Fellow starter Nicodemus Payne put up 15 points while David Caldwell and Eric Reed finished with 16 and 14 points respectively off the bench. Alonzo Mobley led with seven boards while Terrell Sheffey contributed four assists.

Montreat's victory was highlighted by a 15-0 run in the first half and a game-high 32 point lead in the second half. The squad finished the game shooting 51.4 percent from the field and 44.4 percent behind the arc.

"I thought we played well for the majority of the game. A couple of times we weren't locked in and playing physical defensively and Brevard made us pay, but overall I was pleased," said Coach Jones. "We have some big challenges coming up and our guys will be excited to go out and compete as we continue to focus on getting better every week."

Up Next: The Cavs return to conference play on Wednesday, Jan. 2 as they host Bluefield for a 7:30 p.m. ET tip-off.
