Blue Devils Put On A Second Half Show In Shreveport, Wins Independence Bowl 56-27
Daniel Jones and TJ Rahming were spectacular.
In the first half of the Indepence Bowl, Duke looked ready to follow a tired script: score, watch the other team score, match touchdowns until the defense wore down and gave way. When Daniel Jones left early with an apparent injury and Temple picked off a pass for a touchdown, it seemed obvious where things were heading.
Well not this time.
A rested and prepared Duke team did fall behind by 13 in the first half but roared back in the second behind a superb game from quarterback Daniel Jones who came back in and dominated.
Duke pitched a second half shutout and scored 43 unanswered points to run away with the game.
Jones finished with 423 passing yards, Ramming had an 85 yard punt return for a TD and in general It was a fun day for the Duke gang.
Jim will be along a bit later with his game report. It will be later than usual since he has family in for the holidays but it’s coming.
