MADISON, S.D. (Dec. 27, 2018)—The Dakota State University (S.D.) Trojan men's basketball team (4-11 overall record) concludes their 2018 portion of the schedule with a pair of games in the annual Hoop City Classic (Dough Martin Classic), hosted by Dakota Wesleyan (S.D.) at the Corn Palace (604 N Main Street) in Mitchell, S.D.
The Trojans open up their tournament play on Friday afternoon against St. Mary (Kan.) (5-7 overall record), a member of the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference (KCAC). Tip-off is set for 3 p.m. DSU finishes off their non-conference schedule on Sunday afternoon versus Peru State (Neb.) (8-3 overall record) from the Heart of America Athletic Conference in NAIA Division I. The game is slated to tip off at 2 p.m.
Dakota State split their two contests last week, defeating Oglala Lakota (S.D.) 91-54 on the road on Dec. 17. The Trojans fell to their former conference foe Jamestown (N.D.), where they pulled away late in the second-half for a 99-78 victory on Dec. 20.
St. Mary's is coming off from a 2-0 record in the KCAC conference play, defeating Tabor (Kan.) 64-60 on Dec. 12 and McPherson (Kan.) 95-81 on Dec. 15. Peru State (Neb.) rolled past Culver-Stockton (Mo.) 105-56 in HAAC conference play on Dec. 15.
Next Up: Dakota State swings back in full action of North Star conference play next weekend. DSU plays the first of the three home weekend games (Friday-Saturday) versus Presentation (S.D.) and Dickinson State (N.D.).
