Top-ranked Connecticut pulls out win over No. 14 Cal women
Asked before Saturday’s game what she would do if Cal beat Connecticut, head women’s basketball coach Lindsay Gottlieb said: “It’d be one crazy, fun celebration. I hope there aren’t fines for rushing the court in basketball, because I think that would be neat for the people here. … We’ll prepare for an opportunity to make some history and make some magic and see what happens.”
That magical moment will have to wait until at least March.
Top-ranked Connecticut pulled away from the No. 14 Bears in the second half of a 76-66 victory in front of what will likely be the largest crowd of the season at Haas Pavilion.
The Huskies (11-0) have won 126 consecutive regular season games, and they won this one in the same fashion as many of those.
